First-year head soccer coach Julian Beltran and assistant coach Matt Thiessen were removed from their positions last Thursday due to what Lakeland Union High School athletic director Phil Updike, in an email to The Lakeland Times, described as “the current direction and climate of our JV and Varsity boys’ varsity soccer program.” (subscriber access)

  • Lakeland football loses brawl with Mosinee
    It was an old fashioned fist fight Friday night between the visiting Lakeland Union High School Thunderbirds and Mosinee Indians at Veterans Park, as the two teams traded blows all night. In the end, the Indians landed a few more punches and won the game 45-27. (subscriber access)
