The Lakeland girls hockey team traveled to Medford on Monday night and pulled off a hat trick of hat tricks. 

Three different Thunderbirds scored at least three goals and Lakeland crushed the Raiders 14-0.

Asucena Boyer, Isabelle Boyer and Callie Johnson all scored three goals, contributing to a relentless scoring attack that produced 75 shots. 

The first two of those to reach the net were fired by Asucena Boyer. Her first goal, 1:19 into the game, was assisted by Isabelle Boyer and Kate Vizanko. Here second goal, two minutes into the game, was assisted by Callie Johnson.

Isabelle Boyer would score next, unassisted, 3:59 into the first period, then Johnson would get in on the action and score with the help of Asucena Boyer and Ally Pairolero, 4:22 into the first.

Isabelle Boyer would score again, with assists from Ashley Albee and Pairolero before Johnson would score again with assists from both Boyers.

Asucena Boyer would complete her hat trick before the first period ended as she scored her third 13:49 into the first period of an assist from Albee and at the end of the first period the score was already a rout 7-0.

Caitlin Hartigan and Brianna Carlin scored for the T-Birds in the second off assists from Megan Ross and Asucena Boyer, and at the end of two periods the score was 9-0.

Things just kept rolling Lakeland’s way in the third as another scoring barrage developed.

Pairolero scored 5:55 into the third off assists from Isabelle Boyer and Kyle Updike. Callie Johnson then completed her hat trick with two straight goals, one off an Albee assist and one off an assist from Jenna Duranso. 

Then Kyli Updike scored, off assists from Kate Vizanko and Asucena Boyer, before Isabelle Boyer completed her hat trick right at the end of the game. 

In addition to the hat tricks, both Asucena Boyer and Albee were playmakers, getting at least three assists. 

When the damage was done the score was 14-0 and the Thunderbirds had outshot the Raiders 75-1.


Things would not be so easy the following night against the Hayward Hurricanes.

In that contest it was Lakeland that was severely outshot, 42-11, and the Thunderbirds would fall to the Hurricanes 5-0.

Lakeland played toe-to-toe with Hayward in the first though as neither team was able to score, but halfway through the second Hayward unleashed a scoring attack.

Lauren Donnellan scored first for the Hurricanes, off assists from Lily Pergolski and Rikki Saletri. Then Mackenzie Johnson scored off assists from Donnellan and Reone Martin. Finally, Kennedy Sprenger scored off an assist from Pergolski and at the end of two the score was 3-0 Hayward.

The Hurricanes kept piling it on in the third as Jerzy Petit scored 11:31 into the period, off assists from Donnellan and Johnson, and Martin scored at the end of the game, off assists from Saletri and Petit, to make a final score of 5-0.

Penalties hurt the Thunderbirds as Hayward was 3-4 on power plays. Lakeland was unable to take advantage of their two chances with an extra skater.

In the net Anna Maulson was busy for most of the game and she made 37 saves while Emma Quimby of Hayward had to make only 11.
