David C. Yoss, age 70, of Edgerton, passed away Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 at SSM St Mary’s Hospital in Madison. He was born June 29, 1948 in Edgerton, to Clair and Dorothy (Brooks) Yoss. David graduated from Edgerton High School in the class of 1966. He served in the Army from 1968 to 1971. After his service, he married Judy Benson on June 19, 1971 at Central Lutheran Church, Edgerton. Dave and Judy moved to Minocqua in 1982. Dave worked for GTE/Verizon for over 35 years, 23 of them as district supervisor in the Minocqua area. They moved back to Edgerton in 2005. While in Minocqua, he belonged to the Minocqua Lions Club, was a past president and was awarded the Birch-Sturm Fellowship. Dave was involved with sports throughout his life. While in high school, he played basketball and football. He played baseball with the Albion Tigers, and more recently, in golf leagues. He was well known as a coach and official for basketball and baseball up north and around Rock County, where he never got a call wrong. After retiring, he worked for Doug Sherman Tree Service and was currently working at Coachman’s Golf Course. David is survived by his wife Judy of Edgerton, son Matthew (Leanne) Yoss of Verona, daughter Kelly at home, grandchildren Ben and Norah, sister Margaret (Roger) Eddingsaas of Montello, mother-in-law Jean Benson of Stoughton, brother-in-law Gary Benson of Nevada; cousins, niece, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Clair and Dorothy. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 7, 2018 at noon at the Albrecht Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1004 S. Main St, Edgerton with Pastor Jerome Pribbenow officiating. Burial with full military rites will be in Fassett Cemetery, Edgerton. Visitation time will be Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a local youth sports organization of your choice.
