David Lee Marston was born Jan. 13, 1941 to Revered Arthur Charles and Lota Mae Marston in Collins, Iowa. David graduated from high school in Storm Lake, Iowa and the University of Iowa in 1964 with degrees in business management and marketing. While at the University of Iowa, he was president of Delta Upsilon Fraternity when it was named the most outstanding chapter in the United States.
David went to work for Ford Motor Company in 1964 and served in various fields and general office positions for the next nineteen years. He bought the Ford dealership in Minocqua in 1983. David married his best friend, soulmate and business partner Kathleen Marie McDonald in 1986. They later added Chrysler Dodge Jeep to Ford dealership, and numerous land and facility additions followed.
David trained and hunted with American field springer spaniels. He loved and enjoyed bird hunting with his son, Scott, as well as playing golf. David was a long time member of Minocqua Country Club and served on its board of directors.
After 28 years of business, they sold the business to their son, David Scott Marston, and David and Kathleen retired in Scottsdale, Ariz.
David is survived by his wife Kathleen; bird dog “Ace”; son, D. Scott Marston (Briana); granddaughters, Kendra and Ashley Marston; brother, Paul Charles Marston (Pamela); nephew, Nicholas Marston (Jamie) and family; and step-mother, Dottie Marston.
