I write this letter to indicate my support for Michael Bloom in his campaign for Circuit Court Judge of Oneida County. This past summer, I had the distinct pleasure of working under Mr. Bloom in the District Attorney's Office as a law student intern. Although I think the people of Oneida County will be losing a good district attorney, I also know that they will be gaining a great judge.
I am confident that whichever candidate is elected, the rule of law in Oneida County will continue to prevail. The ability to apply law to facts is a talent that many possess. In fact, at the risk of sounding flippant, I would go so far as to say that is not a rare talent. In courtrooms across the land, thousands of attorneys know and understand the law, and they apply it every day. The rarer talent-the talent that the rarer man possesses-is the ability to apply the law in a way that unites rather than divides. It is the ability to apply the law in a way that demonstrates practically that those entrusted with the awesome authority of the state are humbled by it, rather than emboldened; that each litigant is an equal member in our Constitutional community.
In my relatively short time at the District Attorney's Office, I saw that ability in Michael Bloom. That is why he will receive my vote on April 3, and that is why I hope he will receive the majority of the votes.
