Some things should not be privatized

To the Editor:

Walker hired a Texas consultant for the DNR to make recommendations for managing the Wisconsin deer herd.

With Walker's political appointees running the DNR, rather than experienced professionals, will the outcome be anything other than what will meet Walker's ideology? Will the recommendation for herd management be through some sort of private corporation?

If you want to hunt you won't buy a license, you will pay a private company or buy your own land. Will state forests be sold to private organizations under the guise of better control? Unfortunately, we will not know until after the election.

A provision in the so-called "Budget Repair Bill" gives the governor the authority to sell certain assets on no-bid contracts with no oversight and no public hearing.

Do you trust Walker not to privatize public hunting grounds? A primary objective of the conservative movement is to provide opportunities for wealth(y) by privatizing everything. Do you think they will stop at education, postal service and military? Why not balance the budget by selling state parks and forests?

Do you think the cost of hunting will go up? Do you think park fees will not increase if they are owned or operated by a for-profit organization? With a private organization running state lands, how much will snowmobile fees increase?

Some services are best handled through private profit-oriented organizations and some services are best handled through government structure. A government that provides services for the common good of its citizens is not, as some people would like us to believe, equal to communism.

selling off public land for profit is an outrage.
tax payers and hunters alike keep the lands up and working.
we will never stand for a 2000.00 dollar
payment to hunt or fish. we really need to think about our kids and futures in hunting and fishing.
scott walker will not have my vote.
i need to know that my governor will
protect and preserve our lands and lakes.
