To the Editor:
Recent letters to area newspapers have tried to convince you that Tom Tiffany and Jeff Mursau are not the right people to represent our area. First off I’d like to remind everyone that they both served us well the last couple of years while all the hoopla was going on down in Madison. They did not “flee the state” like our Democratic Party senators did. They did not condone the horrendous behavior by protestors that tore our beautiful Capitol building and grounds apart.
No, they kept working to put Wisconsin on a path to fiscal sanity that is already paying off.
According to the Department of Administration’s 2012 Annual Fiscal Report, Wisconsin will have a positive fund balance of more than $342 million. Furthermore, Wisconsin has added $108.7 million to the rainy day fund, the largest deposit in state history. That makes two consecutive years that the state has added to the fund.
Rep. Tom Tiffany is running for State Senate in the 12th Senate District. He is a small business owner in Rhinelander, and worked hard during the last legislative session to make sure that our state’s budget was balanced. Tom is committed to cutting red tape in government. He believes that we need to utilize our natural resources in a responsible way.
For example, cutting more timber on national forest lands will bring back many jobs. Tom will work hard to put our Northwoods economy back on track. I support Tom and I hope you will, too.
Rep. Jeff Mursau is also a small businessman and lives in Crivitz; He is seeking re-election in the 36th Assembly District. Jeff chairs the Assembly Committee on Forestry as well as the Natural Resources Committee and is on the Agriculture Committee. With these leadership positions in the Legislature Jeff is much better poised than any newcomer to get things done for our area. I intend to vote for Jeff and urge you to do the same.
