Are you willing to work for success?

To the Editor:

Daniel Holzman, in his recent letter to you, castigated Diane Hendricks for donating money to Gov. Walker’s campaign because, as he says, “her wanting to make Wisconsin a Right to Work state.” He then went on to write about her wealth and asked, “How much money is enough for her?”

Diane and her late husband, Ken, are a perfect example of what people in our country can accomplish if they put their hearts and souls into their efforts.

Ken was a high school dropout who worked as a roofer with his dad. He and Diane realized that building supplies were not readily available here in Wisconsin so they took a chance and got into the supply business. By working long hours and facing their daily business problems for the past 40 years, they built their business into a nationwide enterprise of hundreds of stores employing thousands of people.

Instead of faulting Diane and her late husband, their success story should be told and retold to every child attending schools in our country. We all have the same chance to succeed provided that we are willing to work for success.

Great Comment, Steve. Sadly, some naive folks believe Obama did build that.

They wasted their time-President Obama would have built that for them.

I knew Ken when he worked for his dad and they didn't have enough cash to fill up their truck! Ken worked hard and built a magnificent company. What is not often known is that Ken almost single handed breathed life back into the rusty town of Beloit! Sadly, it's typical for Socialists to criticize the "makers" and promote the "takers". With that attitude we should all start learning how to speak Greek.
