'Fix this mess'

To the Editor:

"Everyone step up and make a change."

What a nice letter from Mrs. Mleko. I expected to see 25 more letters?

Please don't stop; let's fix this now and keep Mrs. Blank.

A few months ago MHLT held a board meeting to release two teachers. Well, parents were upset, they attended the meeting and this administration and the board changed their minds. No one was let go. Yea.

A few years ago the high school was in the same boat. A few parents thought their daughters were Olympic-style volleyball players and did not like what the coach (Steve) was doing. Well they complained enough and coach was gone. Thanks to these parents the girls' volleyball program as a whole is over. They have never had a coach (that even stayed more than a year) like Steve and nothing promising is coming up. Their girls are freshmen/sophomore but they have no coach. It's all politics, not coaching skills. What a shame.

My whole point is this is what is happening at AV-W. This termination is what? Has Mrs. Blank broke the law? Crossed a line? No, this administration and board is way out of line of common sense.

I have not heard any other teacher from AV-W speak up. Cross the line and say this is wrong. You know all of you have been late with a deadline - missed a paper, missed a meeting - hell, we are humans.

Mr. Walbruck, you seem to have a lot to say, so explain this. Your words, "Ms. Smith is making AV-W the best education facility it can be - she is fully interested in helping make AV-W a model school." Hahaha. She and the board are the problem. Also that EL trip was a joke from the start. The point of EL is to become a mentor school. This is a joke, right?

1. AV-W lowest scores in math from the Dept. of Public Instruction. Smith says oh, she knew that but they will work on it.

2. Four area schools named to Title 1 School of Recognition for high achieving, high progress, and beating the odds. AV-W missed again. Thanks Smith and the board.

3. Three Lakeland schools approved for Fab Lab grants, AV-W missed again. Thanks Smith and the board.

4. MHLT had students attend College Day for Kids. AV-W missed again. Thanks Smith and the board.

Enough is enough. Mrs. Blank should never have been subjected to this behavior - she has modeled so many "kinder" minds and AV-W has great students, they deserve better from the administration, principal and the board.

It's time to throw in the towel and fix this. This has upset so many parents and look what you have done to the students. Mrs. Blank is and has been the best "kinder" teacher, that's from parents and the students.

Smith and this board should be so ashamed of themselves. Fix this mess by doing something right.
