Reader responds to Gee letter

To the Editor:

Mr. Gee,

Please remove your blinders.

My letter mentioned the local town, county, state and school boards, not just Woodruff.

Yes, Woodruff has new board members. I know nothing about the Tomahawk Lake Association but as for Brandy Park I don't think either town should own it as last year I called Woodruff with a concern about Brandy Park and was told to call (number given to me) someone named Frank. I called, Frank answered and when I told him my concern, he said didn't you call before? I told him no. My concern was only two (one was broken) picnic tables at the beach area. People were sitting on the ground to eat, if someone could bring tables from the pavilion area as it was close to the Fourth of July. He said yes. We returned the 3rd - no tables - we left. We returned the 12th. No tables. Unacceptable. People do use the beach in the summer.

I believe 100 percent that every fire and police department are also a great asset to the area. Every time their is a crisis, the assistance is amazing. The ability to work together is excellent.

My negative view of Woodruff is a view anyone can see, not so much in the winter - thank God for snow - but come spring, the trash reappears.

This is a part of my concerns. A new fire truck is OK but why not clean up the junk laying around to prevent a house fire. You pass by Steinberger business every time you go to the town hall, that is a pig sty. That book store was a fire trap, now it is closed. Yeah!

Their are yards with junk, furniture, appliances, lumber against houses and garbage bags in the yards. Being a fire man should you not have safety issues like this in an ordinance? People have 5-8 dogs in one city lot. This is not normal.

If you put a police officer on Balsam Street you could have enough money for a new fire truck in a year or less. If these empty buildings with a liquor license had them pulled, maybe a decent business would be interested.

I hope the board listens more to you and cleans up the overall view of Woodruff.

It seems like the towns only like to argue among themselves. No one plays nice in the sand box the people suffer.

Thank you for your passion but I am not the problem.

Virginia Hindman
