To the Editor:
I was shocked at the number of wolf hunting permits that will be given.
I found a website that said the estimated number of wolves in all of Wisconsin is between 762 and 832 for the 2011-12 count ... what gives on that over 1,000 permits?
Also on Isle Royal there are only nine wolves. Why hasn’t the idea of trapping and relocating been brought up? I am not against hunters, just want to be sure that we humans leave some of the wild in wilderness.
Enjoy the paper, I lived up in Woodruff area from 1962 to 1973. Hard winters back then. I believe I did see a wolf just once during that time, trotting across the frozen lake ... awesome.
