President Obama hurting recovery

To the Editor:

Our nation is experiencing the longest and lamest economic recovery since the Great Depression.

In the last five years, all during the President Obama ‘recovery,’ the following statements are true: People living in poverty have reached the highest levels ever; there are more people receiving food stamps today than at any point in the history of our country; and household income is down nearly 10 percent.

Sounds like the president should spend a little less time at political rallies, and a little more time working with House Republicans like Sean Duffy on solutions to our problems.

Duffy has supported a large number of jobs bills that will get government out of the way and let small businesses do what they do best: create jobs.

I agree Mr. Baird. One of the major factors is millions upon millions of third world countries' immigrants are driving down the wages. Businesses having to compete are and will be forced to hire them, often at the expense of American workers. The hi-tech wage earners are heading for other countries. With hi-tech businesses fleeing our corporate tax rate we are left with nothing more than "service" industry jobs. This came from the Wall Street Journal and they had no solution ... just facts. We are in a world of hurt.

Yes, small business will create jobs, minimum good wage jobs. The U.S Department of Labor projects that by 2020, 50% of the work force will recieve only minimum wage. That's the way to grow the economy.
