The fourth annual running of the Bear Cupboard Run, Lakeland Pantry’s largest yearly fundraiser, will be held Saturday, July 20.
Once again, Minocqua’s Torpy Park will be the center for the BCR festivities. Half-marathoners will board their shuttle buses and depart from the park at 6:30 a.m. sharp and head to the race start near the Bearskin Trail entrance at Goodnow.
The chip-timed race will start at 7:30 a.m. Custom medals will be awarded to the top three men and three women runners, with custom BCR place pins being awarded in 14 age categories. The awards ceremony for the half-marathon will take place at 10 a.m. at Torpy Park.
Cubby runners will gather at Torpy shortly before their 7:45 a.m. start time, to run the 1K race on the Bearskin Trail. This year, again, boys and girls participating in the BCR’s 1K Cubby run will have an opportunity to win a bicycle with accessories worth $500, donated by BJ Sports of Minocqua.
The 5K run and walk will start at 8 a.m. in front of the Minocqua Brewery and proceeding on to the nearby Bearskin Trail. All runners and walkers will be chip-timed.
This year the 5K run awards for the top three men and three women plus those placing in the various age brackets will be custom medal BCR pins in place of ribbons. The 5K run awards ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. immediately following their race.
