The Lakeland swim team came home from Tomahawk tonight with the third spot in the Great Northern Conference meet.
Lakeland scored 220 points to finish third in the meet, trailing Ladysmith/Bruce/Flambeau (315) and Tomahawk (311). Medford (214), Rhinelander (102), Colby/Abbotsford (57), Antigo (51) and Wittenberg-Birnamwood (32) rounded out the finishes for the rest of the conference.
Emily Kubisiak was crowned GNC champion in the 200 individual medley, earning first team honors. Kubisiak’s time of 2:22.23 was the fastest in conference this season, and was a season best for Kubisiak by more than two seconds.
Kubisiak also took honorable mention All-GNC honors after a third place finish in the 100 breaststroke. Her 1:11.95 time was less than half of a second behind from the first place finisher, and was again a season best time by more than two seconds.
Hannna Garcia and Hailey Teichmiller each earned honorable mention honors, as well.
Garcia took third in the 200 freestyle, dropping more than a second from her season best time, and Teichmiller finished third in the 500 freestyle, shaving nearly four seconds from her season best time.
