Lakeland wrestling, Nordic ski, and boys' hockey were in action on Saturday.

Lakeland Wrestling at Ashland Invite:

Lakeland sent seven wrestlers to Ashland.

At 113 pounds, Michael Holton placed third; at 120 pounds, Matt Hanne placed second; at 132 pounds, Jake McClintock placed third; at 138 pounds, Frank Scandin placed second; at 170 pounds, Jameson Schultz placed fifth; and at 220 pounds, Leon Stowe placed second.

Lakeland Nordic ski at Telemark Chase, Cable Wis.:

The Thunderbird Nordic ski team competed in the Telemark Chase freestyle race at the Telemark trails in Cable, Wis.

In the U18 men's 15k (16-17- year-old boys), Mack FitzPatrick took fourteenth (44:54.2) and Will Bodewes finished just behind in fifteenth place (44:54.2).

In the U16 men's 5k (boys 14-15), Luke Bodewes took twenty-second in 16:06.6.

In the U18 girls' 10k (16-17-year-old girls), Erin Bolger took eleventh place in 34:55.7.

In the high school boys' 5k, Keegan Mullen took twenty-fourth in 18:03.4, Michael Laurence finished twenty-seventh in 18:46.5, Tommy Boisvert took twenty-ninth in 19:19.3, Brian Way took thirty-second in 19:53.3, and Fred Maulson finished thirty-ninth in 23:23.7.

In the high school girls' 5k, Carli Capacio took ninth place in 20:06.8, Sophia Weiss took twelfth place in 20:34.9, Nicole Gilman finished twenty-first in 22:26.6, Morgan Courtney took twenty-third in 22:39.2, Julia Malicki took twenty-fifth in 22:57.8, Bailey Nichols finished in thirty-second place in a time of 24:04.4, Stephanie Balas took thirty-seventh place in 25:39.6, Paige Courtney finished fortieth in 27:20.9, and Lily Johnson took fourty-third place in 29:03.4.

The Thunderbirds will compete in classic races tomorrow.

Lakeland boys' hockey vs. Wausau East

The Thunderbird boys' hockey team hosted Wausau East Saturday evening, and earned a 5-1 victory.

Wausau East scored first to take a 1-0 lead, but Jack Dern answered with a pair of goals to put Lakeland up 2-1 after the first period. 

Tommy Berger scored in the second period, then added two more goals in the third to complete the hat trick as Lakeland took the 5-1 victory over Wausau East.
