The 5th annual Bear Cupboard Run, sponsored by the Lakeland Pantry, will take place Saturday morning, July 19, on the scenic Bearskin Trail. Registration for the half marathon, 5k run, 5k walk, and the 1k cubby run is now open. Participants may register on line by going to bearcupboardrun.org, tandhtiming.com or active.com. Those preferring to register by mail may do so by going to bearcupboardrun.org for a registration form.
Half marathon registration fees are: $45 by midnight June 7; $55 after June 7; and $65 on site registration, June 18-19. Registrants must be 12 years of age or older. Free shuttle buses will be available to take racers to the start of the half on the Bearskin Trail near Goodwin. Custom first-year medals or second- or third-year pins will be given out to all finishing participants. Custom medals will be awarded to the top three men and top three women as well as to the top three men and women finishers in each of 12 age categories. All who are signed up by July 7 are guaranteed a Bear Cupboard Run T-shirt.
Fees for the 5k run or walk are $25 until midnight, June 7, and will increase to $30 after this date. The 5k is an out and back 2.5k on the Bearskin Trail, starting in front of the Minocqua Brewery. The top three men and top three women will receive special custom pins. The top three men and top three women in each of 13 age categories will receive custom pins. T-shirts are guaranteed for those signed up by July 7.
Cubby run participants must be 10 years of age and under. The race will be out and back .5k on the Bearskin trailhead near Torpy Park. All runners will receive a commemorative bear paw pin, the 2014 T-shirt, and a cubby bag of surprises.
