The Great Lakes Watercross Racing Series is hosting the Aqua Bowl Open in Minocqua Saturday, Aug. 9.
The event is sanctioned by the International Jet Sports Boating Assocation (IJSBA) and features a full day of closed course personal watercraft racing plus a freestyle competition.
Race classes include ski, sport and runabout watercraft. The event is open to any and all participants, and first timers are welcomed and encouraged to enter.
Being an IJSBA sanctioned event, the winners have the opportunity to qualify for the International Jet Sports Boating Assocation World Finals in Lake Havasu, Arizona in October.
Pre-race sign-up and check-in for racers will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the Boathouse on Lake Mincoqua. A welcome party will also be held at the Boathouse at that time.
Race day sign up and check-in will open at 8 a.m. and will close at 9 a.m. on site, with a riders meeting to follow at 10 a.m.
Practice opens at 10:30 a.m., and racing begins at noon. A freestyle event will be held from 5-7 p.m.
Following the day of racing, an awards ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. at the Big Brown Jug, which will include a live band starting after the awards presention. Roders must attend this program to receive payouts and trophies.
