Signage for the “See Me Tri” Triathlon in Minocqua marks the trails for the biking and run portion of the event.
The 7th annual Minocqua Area "See Me Tri" Triathlon, part of the Northwoods of Wisconsin Tri-Master Series (N.O.W. Tri-Master Series), will be held on Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Clear Lake picnic area off Hwy. J in Woodruff. The triathlon begins at 8 a.m., with late registration open at 6:30 a.m. at the staging area.
The Triathlon features an Olympic and Sprint individual and team competition for triathlon enthusiasts of all ages. The Olympic event starts out at the beach for a 1,500-meter swim in Clear Lake, followed by a 40 km ride on paved county roads. The event is capped off with a 10 km run over DNR hiking trails through the Clear Lake campground forest.
The Sprint individual and team competition is a great opportunity for a more leisurely swim (500m), bike ride (20km) and run (5km). This event frequently involves three different competitors, each with a different skill.
Over the past six years individuals and teams from throughout the state and Midwest have competed. The proceeds from this year's event will benefit the Minocqua Breakfast Rotary Club and its youth exchange program, as well as the Lakeland Area Mountain Bike Organization (LAMBO) for trail development and signage.
Registration for the "See Me Tri" Triathlon can be made at minocquatriathlon.com or tandhtiming.com. Fees are Olympic and Sprint individual: $85, and Olympic and Sprint team: $145. The race is limited to four hundred registrants.
