Glow 4 Hope 5K Run/Walk on July 28
Participate in the first Glow 4 Hope 5K Run/Walk and 1-mile Glow Run for Kids. The event will take place as part of the Relay for Life event in Minocqua on July 28. The 1-mile Kids Fun Run will begin at 8 p.m. and is open to kids 10 and under. The 5K Run/Walk is timed and begins at 8:30 p.m.

Aquarama Revival Run on July 29
The Aquarama Revival Run 2017 (formally the Mike Ross Run), a 5K and 1-mile Kids Fun Run event, is a new take on a historic event in the Minocqua area for more than 20 years. The run will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on July 29, beginning at the Minocqua American Legion.

MERRILL - Since dropping its season-opener, Lakeland has cruised in the Northwoods Babe Ruth Senior League, losing just one game since then. The Thunderbirds even beat Merrill Red, 7-1, in the regular season title game on July 10. (subscriber access)

Mercer holds Sports Hall of Fame Induction Banquet
Mercer's 2nd annual Sports Hall of Fame Induction Banquet was held on Sunday evening, July 2, at the Great Northern Hotel. New inductees in the Class of 2017 were John "JP" Pierpont, coach Glen Leverson, Mike Lambert, Dr. Pat Hickman, and John Pierpont III, who was not able to attend, but his son, John "Johnny" Pierpont IV, posed with the plaque which will be installed on the school's wall.

LAKE TOMAHAWK -- The pinnacle event of the summer has come and passed for the Lake Tomahawk Snowhawks.

At the beginning of the season, Lakeland Union High School knew its track and field teams would be talented, but also knew the boys would not be as deep and the girls' squad would be young.

Coming into the 2017 spring season, not many people had their eyes on Lakeland softball. But after a rocky start, the Thunderbirds recorded one of their best seasons in recent memory, won a WIAA playoff game and set the table to possibly challenge Great Northern Conference teams in the years to come. At 84 years old, Tom Sommers achieved the second hole-in-one of the year at Pinewood Country Club on Sunday, June 25. The ace came on the third hole, from 105 yards out, using a six hybrid club. The shot was witnessed by Mike Martin, Susan Adams and Justin Kriesel.
