Lakeland’s competition is tonight, Friday, Sept. 20, and Eagle River’s competition is Sunday, Sept. 29.

Lakeland Competition: Tonight at LUHS

The 2013 Punt, Pass and Kick competition, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, is tonight at the Lakeland Union High School football field.

The event is open to boys and girls, ages 8-12. There is no fee to participate.

Registration forms may be picked up at the football field before the competition begins. Registration opens at 4:30 p.m., with the contest starting at 4:45 p.m.

Participants will punt, pass and kick a football. A boy and girl at each age level will be determined the winner based on the distance and accuracy of their attempts.

Prizes will be awarded for the winners of each age group, and the winners will be announced and honored at halftime of tonight’s Lakeland vs. Medford football game.

Eagle River Competition Sept. 29

Young pro football fans will have the opportunity to exhibit their football skills when the Eagle River Area Jaycee’s host an NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition Sunday, Sept. 29, at noon at the Northland Pines High School football field. The competition is free and open to boys and girls ages six to 15.

For competition information, call Jed Lechleitner at 715-891-7633 or e-mail jedlech@gmail.com.

Entry forms are available online at www.nflppk.com or from 11:15 a.m. until noon on the day of the event.

The NFL Punt, Pass and Kick football competition allows youngsters to showcase their talents in punting, passing and kicking, with scores based on distance and accuracy. Age classification is as of Dec. 31 of this year.

The top finishers from each of 10 age groups at the local competition will advance to a sectional competition. The winners at the sectional competition will have their scores compared with other sectional champions; the top four scorers from the pool of sectional champions advance to the Green Bay Packers Team Championship.

Age group champions at this level will be declared NFL Punt, Pass and Kick Team Champions. The top four finishers in the boys’ and girls’ divisions within each age bracket from the pool of all Team Champions will qualify for the National Finals at an NFL playoff game in January.
