The Minocqua No Frills Marathon is "all about the race." The event, held Sunday, Sept. 6, is planned to accommodate those who aspire to run their first marathon, as well as veteran runners trying to better their times or qualify for Boston. The "No Frills" name indicates this will be a minimalist event. There will not be peripheral activities that add to the expense of the event.

Eagle River Speedway to honor Kleinschmidt July 31
On Friday, July 31, Eagle River Speedway will host the first race where side by side/UTVs will race on a dirt stock car track. It will also be a night to honor a stock car racer who has logged more miles on the legendary track than nearly 1,000 other racers - Bob Kleinschmidt of Arbor Vitae. To make Friday night's races more special, Harry's Fireworks will have a big fireworks show for the fans, racers and crews.

The Lakeland Babe Ruth Senior team had a heartbreaking loss in the tournament quarterfinal game last Thursday to Merrill Grey. The final score of 0-2, ended their hopes to add the title of tournament champions to their regular season championship.
