Sixteen-year-old hunter Sylvia Kauth, of Lac du Flambeau, got her biggest buck ever on day two of deer season.
She was hunting on her parents’ land in Clark County when she hit the 10-pointer with a 100-yard shot from her pump action .308. The deer only traveled about 60 yards before going down.
The rack sports an 18-inch inside spread and the buck weighed around 180 pounds.
The 10-pointer won the family big buck pool for Sylvia, which especially pleased her because it’s usually her brother, Tommy, who wins.
Sylvia’s dog, Gus, likes taking part in deer camp with the family and was also excited about the buck. Gus enjoys shed antlers, but didn’t quite know what to do with antlers that are still attached to a buck.
