John Stayer, Sr., Minocqua, an 87-year-old World War II veteran, received a VFW-sponsored trip to Montana to hunt antelope.
John was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge in 1945, losing his right leg, and was awarded a Purple Heart.
This October, he was sponsored by the VFW to go to Broadus, Mont., to hunt antelope at Doonan Gulch Outfitters.
Russ Greenwood, as proprietor of Doonan Gulch, has worked with the VFW for several years to host disabled veterans on an annual hunt.
John got his antelope the first day of hunting, with one shot at 290 yards.
