If you like to look at old snowmobiles, show off old snowmobiles, or swap old sleds, parts and equipment, an upcoming event might be the one for you.
The Classic Sled Roundup, now in its 11th year, will be held Sunday, May 25, at St. Germain Town Park, at highways 70 and 155, St. Germain.
The event gets underway at 7 a.m., with an awards ceremony taking place at 3 p.m.
Displayed sleds will be judged in unrestored and restored classes.
Unrestored class allows the following:
• Up to 25 percent touch up paint.
• Replacement of worn parts with new old stock OEM parts.
• Mechanical rebuild of drive train.
Unrestored class does not allow:
• More than 25 percent repaint.
• Reupholstered or reproduction seat covers.
• Reproduction decals.
• Cosmetic restoration of drive train.
The volunteer judging committee will have final say on whether a snowmobile is properly classed.
The show sled registration fee is $5 per sled; $25 maximum.
Swap areas are available for $20 (small) or $30 (large).
Swappers should enter the show grounds off Hwy. 70; show people should enter off Hwy. 155.
The roundup is presented by Arctic Cat, the Snowmobile Hall of Fame, and R&R Motorsports in Hazelhurst.
R&R will have a display of Arctic Cat snowmobiles at ATVs.
Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club of St. Germain will provide food.
All brands of vintage snowmobiles are welcome.
Best of show awards (first and second place) will be awarded for best Arctic Cat, best overall show display, pre-1969 original unrestored, 1970-75 original unrestored, 1976-80 original unrestored, 1981 and later original unrestored, pre-1969 restored, 1970-75 restored and 1981 and later restored. There will be a people’s choice award also.
Race sleds will be categorized as 1975 and earlier and 1976 and later.
Just for fun non-judged classes include the Cutters and Custom Class and the Snowmobile Manufacturer Non-Snowmobile Vehicles Class.
Registration opens at 7 a.m., with judging taking place 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Sno-Pro Master Series awards presentations will be part of the event.
A raffle will be held with the grand prize being a 1978 John Deer 440 Liquifire. Second place is a vacation package at Black Bear Lodge in St. Germain. The third place winner gets two spots in 2015’s Ride With the Champs.
All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Snowmobile Hall of Fame, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
