U.S. Representatives Reid Ribble (R-Wis.) and Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) have introduced a bill to direct the Secretary of the Interior to reissue final rules relating to listing of the gray wolf in the Western Great Lakes and Wyoming under the Endangered Species Act. (Public access)

Black bear harvest quota set

The Wisconsin Natural Resources Board on Jan. 28 approved a 2015 black bear harvest quota of 4,750 as recommended by the Department of Natural Resources, a 50 bear increase over the previous season. (Subscriber access)

Wisconsin to nearly double its elk herd

Governor Walker’s office issued a press release Jan. 8 announcing a partnership with the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Resources that will bring up to 150 elk to Wisconsin over a five year period to boost the existing herd and offer genetic diversity. (Subscriber access)
