Willow Region Sportsman’s Club hosting fishing tourney
Ice anglers in the Pier Willow area will want to head out on the ice Saturday, Feb. 15, as the Willow Region Sportsman’s Club hosts its annual fisheree.
This year’s host is Boyle’s Resort located on Willow Lake at 5181 Boyle Rd., Tripoli. Hours of the fishing contest run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This is a way for family and friends to get out and enjoy a day on the ice. The fishing contest is open to anyone and there is no entry fee.
The contest includes two age groups (age 16 and up and 15 and under) and prizes will be awarded for the two longest catches for walleye, northern, crappie, perch, bass and bluegill.
Registration forms to take part in the tournament and for a chance to win door prizes are available at the Sportsman’s Club shack on Willow Lake at Boyle’s Resort.Fish registration begins at 9 a.m. and any ties will go to the first fish registered.
Food and refreshments will be available during the event. Even those who don’t want to fish in the contest are encouraged to stop by for a shot at winning a number of door prizes donated by local businesses.
Winners of the Willow Region Sportsman’s Club annual Gun Raffle will also be drawn at 3 p.m. Five premium guns and cash prizes will be given away. Tickets can be purchased at Boyle’s Resort up until the time of the drawing. Cost for tickets is $5 for one or $10 for three. Winners for the gun raffle do not need to be present to win.
A longstanding volunteer organization in the Pier Willow area, the goal of the Willow Region Sportsman’s Club is to enhance outdoor recreational opportunities in the area and encourage youth to become and stay involved in the great outdoors.

From U.S. Highway 8, go north 11 miles on Willow Road, turn left onto Boyle Road and drive to the end of the road. From State Highway 70, go south on Squirrel Lake Road 16.5 miles and turn right onto Boyle Rd.
Claus Kraetke Memorial Jamboree
The Turtle-Flambeau Association will host the annual Claus Kraetke Memorial Ice Fishing Jamboree at Donner’s Bay Resort Saturday, Feb. 22, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Purchase of a $5 book of tickets will make anglers eligible to win cash prizes for the three largest northern, walleye, bass, perch and crappie.
With purchase, anglers and non-anglers are also eligible to win a 20 gauge over/under shotgun, Vexilar/Genz pack fish finder or St. Croix ice fishing gear package.
Additional raffles along with food and beverages will be in the resort's lodge. Proceeds from this event go toward the promotion and enhancement of the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage, Wisconsin’s Scenic Wilderness Waters Area.
