Kurt Halen and Brad Wirt took first place in Paulís Pro Am Musky Tournament with two fish, a 44.25-incher on Saturday and a 42-inch fish on Sunday.
This year was the 41st annual Paul's Pro Am Musky Tournament on the Eagle River Chain. There were 56 teams all vying for the big prize and top honors of this long-standing tournament. (subscriber access)

Make the trek to Presque Isle on Saturday, Oct. 21 to be part of a first-time event organizers are labeling the "Fish 'N Lure Rally." Participants (the "fish") travel by car to chase after a "lure." This is not a speed race, but an accuracy ride including a scavenger hunt component.

Wild rice abundance reports across northern Wisconsin vary only slightly from 2016 for the 2017 ricing season. For the second year in a row, reports from the field note this year's rice crop is well below average across the state, though a small handful of lakes contain harvestable rice beds.
