WIFA president Wendy Dallmann interviews several anglers as they come off the ice at the WIFA state high school championship last weekend.
From it's beginnings as a contest between two high schools, the WIFA turned a small-scale tournament into a State Championship with 65 schools sending 80 teams for a total of 700 high school anglers to Lake Minocqua and Tomahawk last weekend. (Subscriber Access)

Boulder Junction's 10th annual Boulder Junction Frozen Tozen was held on Saturday, Feb. 3. Fifty-three fish were caught throughout the day, of which 20 were northern pike, 27 perch, three crappie and three walleye.

Quite frequently, when a group of individuals are involved in a conversation concerning various lakes, many questions arise as to what might have prompted the naming of certain lakes. And although many anglers claim they caught a whopper at "Area Lake," that name does not appear on a map of Vilas or Oneida counties!
