A softball tournament and donation event in memory of Diane Chart and Tomas Saraví will be held Sunday, Oct. 14, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at the Minocqua Park on State Highway 70 West.
Chart and Saraví were killed in a car accident last month in Milwaukee. Chart was the executive director of the Northwoods Wildlife Center and Saraví was a foreign exchange student attending Lakeland Union High School and living with the Charts.
“Diane was like my second mom and I am trying to do everything in my power to have her remembered as everything she meant to me,” Megan Schilz, organizer of the event, said. Schilz also is best friends with Diane’s daughter, Jessica, and interned at Northwoods Wildlife Center.
There will be two softball games starting at 10 a.m.
Game one will be for those age 17 and under and will be allowed to have an adult play alongside them. Game two will be for those 18 and older and a little more competitive of a game. A donation is the fee to reserve a spot on a softball team, and if you give $25 or more, you also receive a free membership to the Northwoods Wildlife Center.
You can sign up in person at the Northwoods Wildlife Center or through email by contacting Schilz at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Not only will there be softball games, but also bag toss, face painting, crafts, baked goods, pumpkin carving and more. All proceeds from the bake sale will be donated to the Northwoods Wildlife Center.
Opportunities to donate directly to the families of Diane and Tomas will be available at the event as well.
