The Presque Isle Community Library is pleased to showcase the Northwoods-themed photographs of photographer Linda Christensen for the month of November.
Christensen’s photography features scenic images from the Northwoods of Wisconsin and the U.P. of Michigan specializing in landscapes, birds and wildlife.
Christensen is particularly well known for her jewel-like closeups of hummingbirds feeding and dueling in the flowers. Her scenic landscapes are filled with vibrant colors and she’s captured a varied assortment of animals and birds going about their lives.
Christensen has a lot of great stories to share about each of her photographs and you have an opportunity to talk with her in person about her work tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 2, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Presque Isle Community Center at the Lioness Christmas in November event.
Christensen was raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago where she took up drawing at an early age, progressed to oil painting and dabbled in watercolors, acrylic and chalks. She started 35mm photography for travel vacations and found she had a knack for it.
Christensen vacationed on their Northwoods property every year with her family since childhood, and after retiring, she moved up north to God’s country.
Since moving to Presque Isle, Christensen has gotten very involved in the community and is always first to volunteer to help. She has given generously of her time to the Presque Isle Library fundraiser, Evening in the Stacks, and she’s made countless Christmas balls for the annual Lioness fundraiser.
She now has time for her love of photography and shows her work at Moondeer Gallery in Boulder Junction and Artist Palette in Manitowish Waters among others.
“Everywhere you look in the Northwoods is a work of art waiting to be captured to share with all who love and may not be able to go out and see what God has given us,” Christensen said.
For Christensen, “hummingbirds have become a special passion to share these amazing tiny jewels that glimmer in the sunlight.”
