Boulder Junction's Frozen Tozen another great success

The sixth annual Boulder Junction Frozen Tozen, held Saturday, Feb. 22, was a great event thanks to the support of sponsors, donators, volunteers and participants.

The Boulder Junction Chamber of Commerce is grateful to all who were involved in making this event fun for our community and visitors.

Nearly $2,000 was raised at this event for the Boulder Junction Area Boat Landing Improvement Fund.

Lake travel was difficult, resulting in a lower number of registered anglers than past years.

The following awards were given during the after-party at Gooch’s A-1 Bar & Grill:

Junior northern pike: Aaron Towne, Manitowish Waters, 21.5 inches.

Junior Frozen Tozen Award: Aaron Towne, Manitowish Waters, 21.5-inch northern (largest overall fish).

Panfish: Jess Christensen, Boulder Junction, 7.5-inch perch.

Northern pike: Jess Christensen, Boulder Junction, 29.5 inches.

Walleye: Dan Jacoby, Woodruff, 14 inches.

Frozen Tozen Award: Jess Christensen, Boulder Junction, 29.5-inch northern (largest overall fish).

Team award: Team Shepard with a total of 41.75 inches. Team anglers were: Aaron Towne, Peyton Towne, Mya Towne, Joshua Shepard and Brian Shepard.

New this year was the Stormy Kromer Snowshoe Run. First place winners of the one-mile snowshoe race around the Winter Park were awarded a Stormy Kromer cap and second place winners earned $10 in Boulder Bucks gift certificates.

Junior snowshoe:

1. Stephanie Mauzer, Boulder Junction, 11 minutes, 11 seconds.

2. Riley Mauzer, Boulder Junction, 13 minutes, 15 seconds.

Adult (1) snowshoe:

1.Ben VanMale, Milwaukee, 6 minutes, 23 seconds.

2. Paul Bill, Fond du Lac, 14 minutes, 9 seconds.

Adult (2) snowshoe:

1. Jeff Marek, Boulder Junction, 12 minutes, 47 seconds.

2. John Altschwager, Plum Lake, 12 minutes, 48 seconds.

Turkey Bowling, benefiting the Community Food Pantry, brought in lots of participation and lots of smiles. Gift certificates for and apparel from Island City Lanes were awarded to the following:

Junior turkey bowling:

1. Makayla S.

2. Frankie H.

Adult turkey bowling:

1. Byron S.

2. Lon L.

Congrats to the grand prize raffle winner, Janie Harpster of Boulder Junction. Janie won a Kindle Fire HD. More than 100 other raffle prizes were also awarded to ticket holders out of the more than 1,500 raffle tickets sold.
