Opening their doors last November, The Bakery is the creation of owner and operator, Chad Tameling. Choosing the location was the easy part of the process because of Tameling’s fond memories and upbringing in Boulder Junction. When walking through the doors, the warm atmosphere is evident not only from the bounty of sumptuous eats, but how the patrons address Tameling like family.
“I wanted to come back here, so in a way, The Bakery is a homecoming for me,” Tameling reflected. “I love it up here.”
From homemade bagels to an array of pastries, Tameling has a diverse and wide reach when tempting the customer’s taste buds.
“We make fresh bread, pies, pastries,” Tameling listed. “Just everything that is a joy in creating.”
When looking back at the beginning of his new business, Tameling understands how important the community had been to his success during the trying winter season.
“When I began my business in November, I had no idea how bad the winter was going to be,” Tameling said. “But the community of Boulder Junction was the reason I was able to be successful and I am extremely grateful for that.”
On top of prospering as a new business, Tameling also holds the distinction of being a young business-owner, and therefore bringing the next generation of economic development to Boulder Junction.
“I guess I am most proud of having business open at the age of 27,” Tameling said. “It is something that I hope to see more of in the area as the next generation steps up.”
