At its annual board meeting in May, Deane Galloway was re-elected as president of the Lakeland Performing Arts Association (LPAA).

Elected to support him was Don Gauger as vice president and Phil Strand as treasurer. Sally Kunkel was re-elected as secretary.

All of the officers bring experience and a passion for the arts to their responsibilities of leadership of the organization. That same passion is shared by the rest of the board members.

For the fifth year, the board is augmented by the addition of two students from Lakeland Union High School – Maya Petersen and Zach Steinberger – who serve in an advisory capacity to the board.

In addition, for the first time, a student at Nicolet College, Katelyn Robbins, will also serve the board in an advisory capacity. Katelyn was an active student member last year from Lakeland Union High School (LUHS) and expressed an interest in continuing to serve in an advisory capacity.

The 2014-15 season marks the 33rd year the Lakeland Performing Arts Association has sponsored first class live entertainment for the greater Lakeland area.

All of our performances are held in the auditorium at LUHS, 9573 Hwy. 70 W., Minocqua, and begin at 7 p.m.

This year’s LPAA series is once again filled with variety, energy, and talented artists. The performers will have you inspired by their musical renditions and capabilities, or tapping your toes to familiar tunes.

2014-15 season

This season’s concert season series opens Thursday, Sept. 25, with the return of the Wisconsin Singers. Twenty-four students from UW-Madison will perform on stage with high energy song and dance.

Other 2014-15 concerts include Amit Peled, a cellist, on Wednesday, Dec. 3; Todd Oliver and Friends (Tuesday, Jan. 20), a comedian and ventriloquist, who brings two dogs on stage; Rebecca and Kuba (Thursday, March 26), who perform a variety of vocal duos and solos; and The Step Crew (Friday, May 15), who will wow you with three styles of exhilarating dance forms.

Also on Oct. 8, the LPAA is pleased, for the first time ever, to join with the Campanile Center for the Arts in co-sponsoring a performance by the Chamber Orchestra Kremlin, a talented string orchestra from Moscow, Russia. This is a rare opportunity. The concert will be held at the Campanile beginning at 7 p.m.

The LPAA is sponsored, in part, by grants from the Wisconsin Arts Board and the Northern Arts Council, for which the organization is most grateful.

Information about the LPAA, next season’s performers, concert dates, etc., may be found at www.lakelandperformingarts.com, where you can also find a ticket order form.

You may also subscribe to ticket packages by calling Nancy Strand at 715-356-5645 or 715-367-1271.
