Julie Kay's Kitchen is the Northwoods' newest catering, concessions and culinary creations company.

On June 30, Julie Kay and Andrew Enerson opened Julie Kay's Kitchen to serve the Northwoods' catering needs.

Originally, Julie Kay's Kitchen's location was crafted to create a cooking space for their popular "Sock It To Me" sauces, but after consideration of fulfilling Julie's passion to serve people the best food possible, she and her husband decided to create their own catering company.

Julie's extensive food service background has proven to be a great platform in which she can amplify her talents.

Julie Kay's Kitchen prides itself on striving to be the best caterer in the Northwoods, providing food and service anywhere from "caviar elegance" to "country casual".

As well as providing the food, Julie Kay's also takes pride in food design and creating focal points.

"I'm a food artist so I just don't put food on plastic platters, I design food displays on silver or pewter display pieces and then when I go to an event ... I design focal points so when guests come in my clients have the 'wow' factor," Julie expressed.

Simply put, she stated, "We have a reputation of being one of the best caterers in the Northwoods."

Andrew Enerson explained that a lot of their reputation comes from their food quality, portions and service while Julie Enerson added on that it was her ability to turn clients' visions into reality.

"I really take time to sit down and know my clients. Most clients have a vision of what their day is going to be and they have this whole picture of what it's going to look like, that's the information that I want from them when I sit down and talk to them," she explained. "It's not just a rush deal ... I want to understand what their needs are and then I want to make their vision become a reality."

"It's not just dollar signs," Andrew assured.

Julie Kay's is a professional catering company specializing in offering a one-stop shop for all the amenities of have a memorable event.

"There's a lot of clients that come up here from out of town and they have the feeling or the need that they need to hire an event coordinator. Well, when you hire me, you already have one," Julie stated.

"I can do everything, so there's really no need to hire an additional coordinator because they already have one and they can use me for amazing food service as well as everything else they would be needing," Julie continued. "I can provide the bakery, floral, beverages, rental items, decor packages, lighting, entertainment or anything you could possibly want."

As well as catering at other venues or personal properties, Julie Kay's also has its own venue to work with, Tasmania in McNaughton, owned by Trig Solberg.

Even with the recent opening, Julie Kay's has lofty goals for the future.

The Enersons said they would like to get a food truck and trailer with full cooking apparatus up and running by next summer. This would allow them to sell around the state and cook for catering events on scene rather than having to transport the food. It would also allow them to travel to some of the big events, like Sturgis and state fairs and festivals.

Julie Kay's is truly a family venture, as the Enersons' six boys and their families are ready to help whenever the need arises.

They are also hoping to launch two new sauces, a Tomato Bliss and an Original Barbecue, in addition to continuing to produce their two current sauces, "Sock It To Me" Garlic Ginger and Citrus Fire.

"I don't know where else my aspirations are going to take me because food is my passion," Julie expressed.

Julie Kay's also has cheesecakes that can be special ordered for your parties or home enjoyment. She has been developing the cheesecakes for the past nine months and says she has "nailed it."

"They are like eating ice cream, so smooth, creamy and delicious," Julie expressed. "My family likes to eat them frozen."

Julie Kay's has many flavors to choose from including turtle, white chocolate raspberry, key lime, oreo, peanut butter, and Irish cream. She also does seasonal cheesecake flavors such as peppermint, egg nog or pecan praline. Cheesecakes can be preordered and picked up right at Julie Kay's Kitchen.

Julie Kay's Kitchen will be at the Lake Tomahawk Fall Fest from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 16, serving sauces with products and promoting the bridal and catering business. They will also be at Beef-a-Rama and other festivals in the area.

Follow Julie Kay's on Facebook at Julie Kay's Kitchen or Google Yelp at Julie Kay's Kitchen to find out what they are up to.

Julie Kay's is currently booking dates for 2018 with available dates going quickly.

Julie Kay's Kitchen is at 9670 Cty Hwy D, Hazelhurst. Hours are by appointment only. To contact Julie Kay's call 715-892-9900 or e-mail juliekayskitchen@icloud.com.

"We're just excited to start our new venture, make a lot of new friends and make a lot of people happy through food, and that's my payback, when you taste my food and you have a smile on your face ... that is my greatest satisfaction and it gives me inspiration and even more drive," Julie concluded.
