Lakeland Area Genealogical Society to Visit the Civil War Era
The LAGS group will meet on Feb. 9 to hear a voice from the past. An area woman will read letters sent to her family from an ancestor who fought in the Civil War. The family had kept these treasurers through generations. The members of the group are encouraged to bring to the meeting any artifacts or stories they may have in their possession from this time in history to share with the group.

Dealing with Feelings: Free Support in Arbor Vitae
A Time to Mourn is a free, monthly support group open to any adult who has suffered a loss. Led by experienced facilitators from Ministry Home Care, each month's meeting focuses on a different topic designed to give people an understanding of grief and some tools to help them manage the feelings and tasks of the grieving process.

Parkinson's disease help group meets Feb. 9
A few years ago a group was formed to help people living with Parkinson's disease. The need for people to learn about the disease and how to manage their lives was clear. Attending a local seminar was a start at bringing people together to not only talk about their experiences and feelings, but a chance to listen to professionals who would shed light on medications and the latest in treatments regarding Parkinsons.

It starts out much like the common cold, but pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough, quickly can turn more serious, and even deadly.

Cases of the highly contagious respiratory infection have been reported in Wisconsin, including several in Marathon County in central Wisconsin.

Holiday Cafe moves to Woodruff
Holiday Cafe has found a new home in Woodruff after an electrical fire displaced the local business from its site in Hazelhurst.
