The Rhinelander District Library has begun to build a reputation as a creative hotspot, with regularly scheduled programming designed to expand the mind and give insights into the heads of some of the many authors, artists and scholars who make up the area, the state, and beyond. Sept. 11 was no different as author of the "Dave Cubiak Mystery Series" Patricia Skalka visited the library to speak on topics such as the writing process, what it takes to get a book published in this day and age and what emotional outlets her books provide.

Town of Cassian receives loan
The Board of Commissioners of Public Lands (BCPL) approved a State Trust Fund Loan totaling $127,818.50 to the town of Cassian to purchase a patrol truck.

The board approved loans totaling $1,991,818.50 at a recent meeting.
