The Campanile Center for the Arts, once again, has scheduled a summer theatre workshop for children grades 3-8. The workshop will be held on weekdays July 7-26, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
The culmination of the workshop will be three performances of “Treasure Island – Young Pirates of the Caribbean,” directed by Gail Petersen. Though it is not the full musical version of the story, it will incorporate some group singing.
Petersen, a local community theatre actor and music teacher, will lead children through three weeks of drama games, instruction in voice and body exercises, improvisation, and learning to tell a story on stage.
The kids will perform on July 25, 26, and 27. Each child in the workshop will have a role in the production, and there are still a few openings available.
Petersen has a passion and gift for teaching which will prove to make this workshop both fun and educational. Tuition is $200 and registration forms are available by calling the Campanile Center for the Arts at 715-356-9700 or stopping in the office.
