For nearly 20 years local musicians have gathered together in various groups to provide music at Torpy Park during the summer months as a gift for the many visitors to the area.

These area musicians enjoy performing and providing something extra to help promote the Lakeland area. Donations are requested at the concerts and used to support various causes. Concerts start at 6:30 p.m. and usually last an hour or so.

Cancellations due to inclement weather will be determined by the group performing that night and will be promptly made at 4:30 p.m.

The Minocqua chamber (715-356-5266) will be notified as well as WMQA (715-362-1975 Office and 888-362-0096 – studio) and WXPR (715-362-6000).

Lakeland Community Concert Band – is a group of 40-plus musicians who rehearse all year long providing concerts during the Christmas season and in the spring. During the summer they play music that appeals to the summer crowd.

Trillium – a group of ladies who perform music in the style of the Andrews Sisters and various other artists.

Celebration Brass Quintet – This popular area quintet plays just about any style of music possible and for any occasion. They have been together since 1996.

Whiskey Northern Railroad Brass Band – In the mid-1800s a brass band was a celebration of civic pride. Every town had one. Brass bands use only brass instruments and percussion. This group is a re-enactment of a typical brass band performing at the turn of the 19th century.

Dixie Six – The Dixie Six is a group of musicians who play traditional New Orleans style jazz. While the band’s roots in northern Wisconsin extend back to the 1960s, the music they play goes back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries and is exemplified by such tunes as “Royal Garden Blues,” “Tin Roof Blues,” and of course, “When the Saints Go Marching In.”

The Campanile Big Band – Actually more of a “little big band, recreates the sounds of the big bands, playing music from the 30s up through the 1980s. Their repertoire includes both instrumentals and vocals, and an evening with them is great for summertime listening or even dancing, if you wish.
