A Band Called Honalee to perform at LUHS on March 15
The Lakeland Performing Arts Association is bringing three talented young artists to take you for a stroll down memory lane at the Lakeland Union High School theatre, 9753 State Hwy. 70 West in Minocqua at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Campanile offers clogging classes beginning April 3
The Campanile Center for the Arts in Minocqua is offering two opportunities to offer clogging beginning Monday, April 3. This growing style of dance (and it's a great workout too) is a type of folk dance in which the dancer's footwear is used percussively by striking the heel, the toe, or both against a floor or each other to create audible rhythms, usually to the downbeat with the heel keeping the rhythm.

At the Library
The Book Club will meet on Wednesday, April 12, at 1:30 p.m. at the library. The selection is "As Good As Gone" by Larry Watson. New members are always welcome. You may reserve copies of the book by using the Merlin catalogue system or by calling the library.

Chicken Dinner Fundraiser
The St. Germain Women's Service Club is busy preparing for its annual Chicken Dinner Fundraiser, to be held on Saturday, April 29 at the St. Germain Community Center. The event will include a delicious chicken dinner, a bake sale and pie raffles. Money raised by this event will go towards the Club's scholarships for local college students and financial assistance to several local charities.

The Mercer Public Library and the Iron County Citizens Forum (ICCF) will host a candidates' forum at the Mercer Community Center at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21. Candidates running for Mercer Town Board will answer questions from the audience during the forum.

Candidate Forum in Boulder Junction on March 23
The League of Women Voters of the Northwoods and the Boulder Junction Public Library will be co-hosting a Candidate Forum to be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 23 at the Boulder Junction Community Center. All candidates for the offices of town chairman, town supervisor, and town clerk/treasurer have agreed to attend and participate in the forum.

Rock and mineral identification class on April 1
The Lakeland Gem Club will present a class on how to identify rocks and minerals from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 1. The class is limited to a maximum of 30 attendees. Fee is $10 for adults, $5 for children with a minimum age 12 years old. Class will be held at Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua.

Nicolet College Art Gallery receptions March 18, 25
The Nicolet College Art Gallery will hold two receptions in coming weeks, one to close an exhibit of the finest art by area high school students and the second to open an exhibit by artist Stephen Wysocki.

The reception for the high school students' Varsity exhibit will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, March 18, in the Nicolet College Art Gallery.

Snowstorm impacts travel; reschedule date pending



Due to the recent snowstorm impacting travel nationwide, the concert at Campanile Center scheduled for Thursday, March 16 featuring Samite is cancelled. A reschedule date is pending. The story on Samite in today's Living North section was sent to press before the concert was cancelled. The Lakeland Times will publish new information once a new date for the concert is made available.
