Enter exhibit items at the Oneida County Fair
The 2017 Oneida County Fair Exhibition entry books are now available. The Fair runs Aug. 3-6 at Pioneer Park in Rhinelander. The judging of exhibit items takes place primarily on Thursday, Aug. 3 with photo entries judged prior to the Fair on Wednesday, July 26.

Lakeland Performing Arts presents Dave Bennett on May 12
The Lakeland Performing Arts Association is bringing to the stage a multi-instrument phenomenon, Dave Bennett, a clarinet virtuoso who plays electric guitar, piano, drums, and sings. One of the only artists saluting the Roots of Pop, Bennett covers music from the swing era and rock-n-roll to country, Elvis and the Beatles. His performance will be at the Lakeland High School theater in Minocqua at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 12. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Holy Family offers grief support program starting May 1
Holy Family Circle of Care will offer a new session of GriefShare beginning Monday, May 1. GriefShare offers help and encouragement to those who have experienced a death of their spouse, child, family member of friend.

GriefShare meets for 13 weeks, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. 8950 County Highway J, Woodruff. There will be no sessions on May 29 and July 4, with the last class held on Aug. 7.

Aluminum can drive dates and locations announced
The BSA Venture Crew will be holding their spring aluminum can drive. They will be accepting aluminum cans, (crushed or uncrushed), scrap aluminum, vehicle, marine or lawn equipment batteries.

Meat Raffle fundraiser in Eagle River on April 29
The American Legion Riders Association of Wisconsin, District 11 will be holding a Meat Raffle fundraiser at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 29 at Veterans Center in Eagle River. The fresh meat will be from Lake Tomahawk Meat Market in Lake Tomahawk. Raffle packages will include beef, pork, bacon, chicken, turkey, sausage and other assorted meats. Tickets are $.50 per package and must be purchased at each event. Everyone is welcome. Come support local veterans in need. Mercer Library to host Earth Day Fair on April 29
The Mercer Library will hold its first Earth Day Fair at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 29 in the Mercer Library and Community Center. The fair will feature information and activities for adults and children from 10 a.m. until noon, and a performance by folk musician Skip Jones at noon.

The United Methodist Church of the Pines women will be hosting their annual Spring Rummage and Bake Sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 11 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 12 at a new venue the American Legion Hall (121 Front St.) across from the Minocqua Post Office. The sale is a great opportunity to find some unique treasures and bargains, but more important, all proceeds go to missions.

Learn to Quilt class held May 13 and 20
A Learn to Quilt class will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays, May 13 and 20 at the Hiawatha Clubhouse in Woodruff. The Ladies of the Lakes Quilt Guild will be quilting baby or small quilts in just two days. Learn all the steps and return home with a finished quilt.

Father Daughter Dance held April 28
All area fathers and grandfathers with daughters and granddaughters are invited to the 9th annual Father Daughter dance hosted by Eaglebrook Church in Woodruff. This year's theme is "Saddle Up for a Country Western Hoedown." The dance will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 28 at the Arbor Vitae Town Hall on 10675 Big Arbor Vitae Dr. Those attending are encouraged to come in their favorite country and western outfits.

The Lakeland Area Kiwanis Club is now accepting entries for the Get Your K's On run on Saturday, April 29, at the Minocqua Sports Park on Hwy 70 W at 1 p.m. The Get Your K's On Run is a heart-healthy family event raises money for the Kiwanis Autism Projects.

Oneida County's veterans service officer Tammy Walters, in conjunction with six other CVSOs, has a "Veterans Benefit Expo" scheduled for April.

"Veterans, family members, survivors and care givers from anywhere are welcome to attend," Walters said.
