Bear Cupboard Run announces July 15 races
Registration is open for the 8th annual Bear Cupboard Run featuring a 1/2 marathon, 5K run, 5K walk and a 1.6K Cubby run in the morning of Saturday, July 15. The event draws together families, friends and supporters from across the community, state and country joining as 'neighbors helping neighbors' to help support two great causes, the Lakeland Pantry and Wisconsin Nordic Development Group (WNDG). The two nonprofits work together to give Lakeland area families and children access to healthy food and exercise.

Rockin' the Campanile
Doobie Brothers tribute band, China Grove, rocked the Campanile Center for the Arts on Thursday, May 18. The band played a selection of covers and features several members who have performed with original Doobie Brothers band members. Hazelhurst Lions Club Pancake Breakfast on Sunday
The Hazelhurst Lions Club Pancake Breakfast will be held from 8 to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 28. The pancake breakfast will be held at the Hazelhurst Town Hall.

A complete breakfast will be served, including pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage and orange juice, coffee or milk.

The Northland Pines School District All American Kids Club Social will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31 at the Northland Pines High School commons.

This event is an opportunity to thank all local heroes for their service. All veterans, police officers, firefighters, Northland Pines students, staff and their families are welcome to attend this free spaghetti dinner.

The Manitowish Waters Lioness Club will be selling homemade, freshly baked pies at 8 a.m. on Friday, May 26, in front of the Village Market in downtown Manitowish Waters. They sell quickly, usually by 9 or 10 a.m., so come early for the best selection.

Lions Club annual Chicken and Pork Steak Dinner on May 27
The Boulder Junction Lions Club will be holding their famous annual Chicken and Pork Steak Dinner on Saturday, May 27, at the Boulder Junction Community Center. Serving will begin at 4 and end at 7 p.m.

For only $13 a person, enjoy a choice of grilled chicken or grilled pork steak including a salad, roll, baked potato, beans and the delicious Boulder Junction Lioness desserts. Coffee and milk are also included. Soda and bottled water are available at an additional cost. Carryouts will be available.

The Lakeland Area Kiwanis Club wants to remind all artists and crafters the early $60 registration fee for the Island Art Walk ends on June 1. There is still space available, but the $75 rate will resume on June 1 and continue until final registration on July 1.

The Downtown Art Place is hosting a public opening for the "Lake Superior, Rocks, My Soul" Exhibition by Peg Sandin, an artist from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Minocqua Island Swim Challenge returns on June 24
On Saturday, June 24, 2017 over 100 swimmers will compete in the 1-mile or 400-meter open water swim challenge at Torpy Park, in downtown Minocqua. The event is presented by Ministry Health Care, part of Ascension and organized by the Oneida County Public Safety Dive Team with the help of the Minocqua-Lakeland Breakfast Rotary Club. The Swim Challenge returns for the sixth year.
