'Popstar' gives modern music the Spinal Tap treatment
"Saturday Night Live" alumni Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone - collectively known as The Lonely Island - have finally delivered a feature film cut from the same cloth as their star-making musical sketches.

The sketches, which you'll have to look up yourself - I can't print the names of half of them - often have the same focus: poking fun at the absurdity of the modern music industry and its ridiculous tropes and trends. (subscriber access)

'The Nice Guys' is a fresh face in the summer blockbuster crowd
After a bit of a misfire with "Iron Man 3," writer-director Shane Black returns to form with "The Nice Guys" - a 1970s comedy-mystery that is squarely within Black's irreverent, quick-witted wheelhouse.

The film follows an intimidating enforcer (Russel Crowe) as he reluctantly teams up with a skeezy private eye (Ryan Gosling) to track down a missing person - a person of increasingly dangerous interest. (subscriber access)

'Captain America: Civil War' is the clash of superheroes we've been waiting for
I contemplated titling this review something like "Civil War is the film 'Batman vs. Superman' wanted to be," but comparing Marvel's newest picture to something as awful, calamitous and destructive as "Batman vs. Superman" is an insult to "Civil War." Hell, it's an insult to the American Civil War. (subscriber access)

If you’ve seen “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” “The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou,” or “The Darjeeling Limited,” you know that director Wes Anderson has a style in and of his own.

A gangster film with a small town feel

By the end of this film, you forget that it’s based on a true story.

At least, I did.

Movie Review: 'Spider-Man' - It's an amazing web he weaves
Hollywood has always had its pulse on the American psyche – producing films that not only entertain but provide an intimate look into who we are at that specific point in time.

Movie Review: 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'
In today's day and age, the issues portrayed in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" are not relevant.
