Richard "Dick" Reed, 90, left for the other side Saturday, March 3, 2012, after experiencing a stroke one week earlier.
He was born and raised in Lake Tomahawk, the son of Roland and Eva (Lyannas) Reed. Dick installed electrical service to their farm in 1939 and served six years in the U.S. Navy, Pacific Theater, as Radioman First Class. After marriage in 1953 to Nola (Fuller) Reed, they lived in Pomona, Calif., where Dick worked with rocket and missile components and their first son, Brian, was born.
Thereafter, Dick owned and operated Reed Radio and Electric in Lake Tomahawk and mentored young Ed Silhan. Retiring in 1986, Dick enjoyed gadgetry and "horse-trading" electronics with Ed along with computers, local history, musical jam sessions and a good laugh.
Richard is survived by three children, Brian, Janis and Danny M. Reed, among many grand- and great-grandchildren, cats and dogs. Richard is survived by two sisters, Ruth (Mentz) and Isabelle (Dies) Reed with a family of nieces, cousins and friends.
Dick requested no services be held.
