Charlotte Schaub

Charlotte Schaub, 90, died at Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff, Wednesday, June 27, 2012.

Born to George and Dorothy Glover in St. Louis, Mo., in 1921, she was raised in that city until age 20 when she moved to Chicago.

It was here she met Ed Schaub Sr. and they married in 1946, two weeks following his discharge from the Army after World War II.

During the war she had worked on the Sure Fire Torpedo in the metalurgical lab at Hot Point. At that time it was considered a secret weapon.

She and Ed lived in the Chicago suburbs for 25 years with Ed working as a pattern maker and general contractor.

After being introduced to the Northwoods by Bill and Ginny Ross, they made a permanent move to the area in 1965. Ed opened a construction business. and Charlotte worked in their office.

She was preceded in death by Ed Sr. who died in 1995.

She is survived by two children: Ed Jr. (Ellen) of Minocqua, and Michele Bruette of Woodruff, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Barbara (Tony) Napoli, of St. Louis.

She was a member of the La Sertomas Auxiliary in St. Louis; served as a volunteer at the Woodruff Senior Center for 13 years and a front desk volunteer at Howard Young Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2 p.m., at Bolger Funeral Home Woodruff Chapel. Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m.

Bolger's Funeral and Cremation Service is handling the arrangements.

So sorry to hear about your mom. She was one of life's "fun" people, always a pleasure to be with. I will miss her as I know both of you will. My thoughts are with you.
