Janet R. Rothwell, passed away Monday evening, June 25, 2012, at Howard Young Medical Center, Woodruff, due to complications from Alzheimer's disease.
Janet was born June 26, 1932, in New Concord, Ohio, the daughter of T.L. and Lucille Brown. She is survived by her husband, William of Lincolnshire, Ill.; one brother, Richard Brown (Joyce) of Marion, Ohio; and her sister, Sue Brown of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Janet graduated from Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio, in 1954 with a Bachelor's Degree in home economics education. She taught in California and Ohio before taking a position with the Glenbrook High School District in Glenview, Ill., in 1962. She opened Glenbrook South High School as the head of the Home Economics Department. Janet earned a Master's Degree in Home Economics Education from Northern Illinois University in 1972. She retired from GBS in 1992 as the instructional supervisor, Home Economics and Health.
Janet married her husband, William on July 10, 1963. They had no children. Janet was an accomplished quilter and clothing seamstress. They purchased their home on Presque Isle Lake in December 1991 and enjoyed the Northwoods for 20-plus years.
Bolger Funeral and Cremation Services of Minocqua and Woodruff is handling the arrangements locally.
Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home of Highland Park, Ill., will handle the visitation and memorial service arrangements in Illinois.
