Frances Palmer Sprague, a longtime Northwoods resident, died peacefully at home with her daughters at her side Friday, June 29, 2012.

She was born to Edward and May Palmer June 14, 1925, in Armour, S.D. Fran's beloved husband, Jim, preceded her in death Sept. 6, 2011; they were married 61 years.

Also preceding Fran in death were her much-loved son-in-law, Kai Jacobsen; her parents; her brother, Robert Palmer; two sisters, Ardie Hayes and Gwen Barnard; and two brothers-in-law, Paul Hayes and Bert Barnard.

Fran is survived by her two daughters, Kathryn Sprague of Milwaukee and Susan Jacobsen of Hazelhurst; her sisters-in-law, Tillie Palmer of Armour, S.D., and Beverly Tyler of Venice, Fla.; nieces, nephews and longtime dear friends.

Fran earned her Bachelor's Degree in music education at Yankton College in Yankton, S.D. She taught music at various high schools in South Dakota producing winning teams in music competitions. Fran retained a lifelong passion for classical music that brought her much joy. She sang in church choirs all of her life until her health prevented her from attending church regularly. Fran was known for her cheerful good humor, dedication to family, being a steadfast friend and for being a wonderful baker.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 3, 11 a.m., at the United Methodist Church of the Pines in Minocqua.

The Sprague family would like to give special thanks to Nancy Stowe for her loving care for Fran these last few weeks and to her "coffee friends" for their unflagging support and encouragement.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dr. Kate Hospice.

Bolger Funeral and Cremation Services of Minocqua and Woodruff is handling the arrangements.

Online condolences may be shared at www.bolgerfuneral.com.

Sue: I was so sad to read of your mom's passing.
I didn't get the paper in time to attend her service or I surely would have been there.

This picture of her is so Beautiful.
