Elsie M. Groesbeck, 91, passed away peacefully at Country Terrace (Inncare) assisted living in Minocqua on Saturday, July 21, 2012.
She was born in 1921 in Ossining, N.Y., daughter of loving parents, Charles and Isabel. Her childhood was spent in Menands, N.Y., with her parents and older sister Mable. In 1943, she married Floyd Groesbeck from Albany, N.Y. They resided in upstate New York, near Albany, and later Binghamton, N.Y.
As well as being a loving wife and mother to son, Floyd, and daughter, Nancy, she worked at Grant’s Department Store as a department manager and helped with the family business. Nearing retirement, Elsie and her husband moved to Florida where she managed the Park Lane Hosiery store in Clearwater. After her husband’s death, she moved to the Woodruff area to be near family.
Elsie loved caringly for her pets, spending time with her family and friends, and collecting all things relating to cats. She loved to laugh and never lost her great sense of humor and quick wit. She will be loved, remembered and missed by many.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, and sister, Mable. She is survived by her son, Floyd (Lynn) Groesbeck, Averill Park, N.Y.; daughter, Nancy (David) Sconzert, Arbor Vitae; grandchildren; Laura (Walt) Floyd, Carol (Bernie) Muessybradt, Julie (Derek) Parsnow, Aaron (Sara) Sconzert, and 9 great-grandchildren.
A special thanks to the wonderful, caring staff (past and present) at Country Terrace (Inncare), and the Ministry Home Health and Hospice staff and volunteers for all you did for Elsie.
A private memorial and celebration of Elsie’s life will be held at the convenience of the family.
Donations in Elsie’s name can be made to Dr. Kate Hospice, P.O. Box 770, Woodruff, WI 54568.
