Samuel Rohrer MacGregor, 77, of Park Falls, passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Howard Young Medical Center.
Sam had Parkinson’s for many years and had the support of the local Parkinson’s Support Group and the care/support of his live-in caregiver Mark.
He was the son of Samuel R. MacGregor Sr. and Virginia (Wishmeyer) and was born in Holway. Sam graduated from Medford High School. He then served in the U.S. Army as a medic during the Korean War. Sam married Karen Hatlestad in 1959. They lived in Madison before relocating to Elgin, Ill., where he was a commercial airline pilot for Eastern Airlines. Upon retiring as a captain from Eastern Airlines, the couple returned to Wisconsin. Sam continued to fly for Trans North Air charter service in Eagle River. Sam was a volunteer fireman for the Pike Lake Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time outside and on his pontoon boat with his family. He attended Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, Park Falls, for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; sons Michael (Tami), Daniel (Kari), James (Debbie); one daughter, MaryBeth; and grandchildren Karli MacGregor, Kim MacGregor, Douglas MacGregor, Shawn MacGregor, Benjamin DeYoung, Brynn DeYoung, DJ McGowan, Eli McGowan, Lydia MacGregor, Hannah MacGregor, Luke MacGregor, Danny MacGregor, and Emma MacGregor; half-sister Mary Lou; half-brother David; and special family friend, Jay Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother John; and sister Sharon.
He was a loving ‘papa’ to his family and will be dearly missed.
A private memorial service is to be held at a later date.
