Folke Becker Jr., 84, of Wausau, passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Garden Crossing, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.
Folke was born Aug. 24, 1928, in Rhinelander, to the late Nils Folke Becker and Alice (Ewing) Becker.
He married Jean Boos, May 12, 1956, in Minneapolis, Minn. She preceded him in death. He attended Northland College, Ashland.
Folke enjoyed reading, downhill and cross country skiing, golf, fishing, and hunting. He and Jean spent much of their last years together at their cottage. Folke also enjoyed playing gin rummy – the good guy’s against the bad guy’s (men against the women). He had a secret way of scoring that he took with him.
Survivors include two sons, Nils Folke Becker III, (Cheryl) Becker, Edgar; and Folke’s daughter Breanna Olig of Wausau; William (Marie) Becker, Schofield; and their children William and Joseph Becker.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at the Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau.
Rev. Tim Vanden Langenberg of Wesley United Methodist Church will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Monday.
