Leland John Gilson, 82, of Minocqua, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Avanti Health and Rehabilitation Center in Minocqua.

Lee enjoyed trapping minnows for the bait and tackle shop; enjoyed deer hunting and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, he even had a big Packer “G” on his garage door. Lee’s love for the Packers started when he worked for them in high school in the 1940s under the leadership of Curly Lambeau.

Lee also enjoyed bingo, country music and loved to travel with his family to Las Vegas to take in some shows, gambling and people watching; Disney World, Grand Ole Opry, Branson and Niagara Falls are some of the locations he visited.

Lee is known for his sense of humor and entertained a lot of people with his jokes and stories.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol, of Minocqua; one son, Randy, of Minocqua; one daughter, Lisa, of Woodruff; one brother, Merle (Rita) of Algoma; and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Garland; his wife, Dorene; and one sister, Marie Boulanger, and her husband, Lawrence.
