Janis Vera Nemeth, 83, died suddenly at her home in Bullhead City, Ariz., Dec. 13, 2012.
Janis was born to Arthur Harpley Mayes and Vera Hertha Ottilie Annie Bretall in Maywood, Ill., April 22, 1929. She graduated from Oak Park’s Proviso High School in the spring of 1947, and married Louis Anthony Nemeth Sept. 14, 1947. Louis and Janis moved around some when he was in the Army, and they settled in Barrington, Ill., where they raised their children, David Arthur and Melissa Ann.
Their summers were spent in Hazelhurst on Yawkey Lake. After Louis’ passing in 1977, and the big snowstorm the winter of 1978, Janis moved to El Cajon, Calif., in 1979. She moved full-time to Bullhead City, Ariz., in 1993, where she enjoyed knitting, sewing, bird watching, and traveling. As a trivia buff, she also enjoyed watching Jeopardy and playing board games, which kept her mind sharp.
Janis was predeceased by her parents; husband; and brothers Warren Bretall, John Arthur (Jack), and Thomas Kingston Mayes.
She is survived by one son, David Arthur (Lori) Nemeth of De Pere; one daughter, Melissa Ann (Tony) Piscitello of Gresham, Ore.; grandchildren Jarik Thomas and Ariel Lyn Nemeth, and Antonina Louisa Piscitello; brother-in-law William Edward Nemeth nieces Diedre Mayes Koik and Marta Yolanda Hatter; nephews Warren Shawn Mayes, Edward Charles Meuller III, and Warren Kingston and John Christopher Mayes; and many great nieces and nephews.
